North Cascades > Mount Baker Area

GORGEOUS!!! The road is pretty rough between the Yellow Aster Butte trailhead and Twin Lakes. The trail starts in between the lakes, so you are immersed in beauty before you even begin. Right now, the bugs also begin right at the trailhead. They are relentless and mean-spirited, and will try to eat your face for the first half of the way up. I inadvertently bought deet-free repellant, which I think made them love me more. I'm guessing Deet would work much better. The trail has beautiful views of the lakes and panoramic views of the cascades and baker. It is exposed throughout much of it, so bring sunscreen. Seriously though, the hike gets more stunning every step you take. You will love it!!
