Southwest Washington > Columbia River Gorge - OR
Busted bridge at Tenas Creek
Cut a 3 day planned loop trip down to an overnight due to high water levels and reported snow above 3000 ft. Absolutely GREAT hike, though! Stayed at 7 1/2 mile camp, trail is very muddy with numerous fords after 6 miles or so. There is a bridge out at Tenas Creek, easy to ford... other fords that are not bridged were more sketchy. My son managed to cross each on logs and rocks, I waded with some slipping. There were a couple of downed trees that required crawling under through mud. The campsites are in good condition. We hiked on day two past the trail split to Methow (sp?) lake, but stopped at a crossing that seemed a bit treacherous - did not get far enough to report on the "big" ford across Eagle Creek. Hiked back to Wy East camps, had lunch and contemplated the weather, and decided to just call it a good trip and hike out! Take your Parks Pass or Forest Pass, we forgot and had to pay... Also recommended to park by the visitor center for overnight stays, so that's what we did. I would definitely recommend this as a day hike to Tunnel falls, perhaps on to Twister Falls as well - read the trail description though, the trail is on a steep drop off and not for the very wary!
