Quick “black Friday” walk along the Waterside Trail after walking the Foster Island Loop. Waterside remains a quick urban connector trali running right along the Montlake cut under the bridge over to Portage Bay. There really isn’t any convenient parking but it is an easy walk from both the Foster Island and Union Bay Natural Area trails nearby. There are no restroom facilities along the route. The route is largely urban paved trail from Foster Island along the south edge of the Montlake cut. Wildlife along the route included a bunch of Merganser duck just hanging out under the bridge plus many other various ducks, etc. Lots of nice views through the cut, east out into the lake and west over Portage Bay towards the University and Ship Canal bridges. Certainly not a destination walk, but a nice addition to one of the other walks in the area if you are looking for some additional distance and views. Quick shoutout to “Daisy” and her owner whom I talked with for a bit and took their pics in the beautiful weather today, super nice to say hello and happy holidays.
