Sunrise hike of Mailbox on 11.28.25
ROAD: Fine for all cars. Parked at the lower lot, although it looked like the gate was open even at 4.30 a.m.
TRAIL: We were not the only ones slogging up the Old trail this morning! A handful of us made it to the top for sunrise post-Thanksgiving. The old trail was in its usual steep shape with some muddy and slippery sections, but nothing out of the ordinary.
No snow at all, which was surprising and a bit sad. The boulder field was covered with a thin, invisible layer of ice that made it a bit more exciting than usual. Poles and caution got us through it with one wipe out in our group.
