Did this one as a recovery hike and I have always wondered about this little back court peak, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise.
Trailhead
There are sort of two trailheads, there is parking before the gate, and then the big trailhead about 0.5 mile after that. It's a pretty good sized lot with parking on gravel and bathrooms. The road to get in is gravel for the last mile and it's bumpy but not too rough, I think most cars should be able to make it just fine. A bit narrow in places though.
Trail
This is more in a mountain biking ORV system. So the trail is actually just an old maintenance road until the final 0.2 of a mile. However the forest is beautiful and the views get better as you climb. No snow and just some mud at the moment.
The final push to the summit is a somewhat steep bootpath that goes straight up(unlike the MTB paths which wind a little more)
Summit
The summit offers really cool views of the enchantments, Mission ridge, and even Glacier peak! On top of that I was greeted by some surprise larches in full fall color at the top. Had no idea a little grove of them was lurking on the north side of this mountain.
I encountered 4 bikers lower on the mountain and that was it. Very peaceful and uncrowded.
This was great to be able to do a more relaxed summit and still do some peakbagging, great end to fall before the snow comes.
