Mount Rainier Area > Chinook Pass - Hwy 410
Noble Knob by Melissa

Gorgeous autumn colors along this trail currently! Started from the Dalles Ridge access. There were only 2 other cars at the trailhead when I arrived around 11am. The gravel road up is long (about 10 miles), but not in too bad of condition. The trail starts by meandering along the ridge line where wildfires from the past transformed the trees into tall silver stems. Views of Rainier can be seen along the ridge and beautiful blueberry bushes now brilliant red, and still with some ripe berries, line the trail. Noble Knob, with the distinct rock formation at the top which looks like a little castle fortress, can be seen out to the left once the trail veers that way. After a while the path dips down before steeply climbing back up, leading toward Noble Knob. The trail description on WTA is helpful, and there are well-marked signs that look fairly new at the junctions. Absolutely beautiful trail! The day did get warm and the trail is mostly exposed with no water along the trail, so be sure to have sun protection and ample water.
