Snoqualmie Region > Snoqualmie Pass

An excellent day for a swim!

Arrived at the parking lot around 4pm after climbing at World Wall and found a spot easily in the upper lot. I'd arranged to meet a nice stranger on the internet, so the accessibility and high visibility of this area was ideal. It was a lovely hike up if not a bit too warm. From the overlook, we hiked to the right and downward to the lake.

By then the smoke had mostly blown through, and the lake bottom had that deliciously serene feeling. The water was placid and reflecting the ridgelines above. There was green all around, and we'd occasionally hear a pika squeak. A pair of young women were giggling at the shoreline as they attempted to get in the cold water. Later a pair of men arrived and inflated pack rafts so they could row themselves to camp on the other side. The cold water felt great on my sore hips from a long day and a longer week.

We hiked out to cotton candy skies. The Snoqualmie basin looked stunning as the light filtered out. Then the moon was full and red. It was one of those nights that remind you summer is ending, and perhaps, things will change.
