Arrived about 9:30 on a holiday but there’s plenty of room in the parking lot since it’s the ski area overflow lot. There were quite a few people on the trail, including some big groups with well behaved dogs. The trail goes through woods briefly and then cuts up across the ski slope. The spiraea and huckleberry leaves are starting to turn red and it was sunny but not too hot so even this section was a pleasant hike. The rest of the hike is through the woods with nice damp areas even at the end of summer. The trail has a lot of rocks and roots in places but overall is in pretty good shape. The lake is lovely but not good for wading, too much mud. We found a few last blue huckleberries along the lake.
