Trip Report

Tonga Ridge / Mount Sawyer — Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025

Central Cascades > Stevens Pass - West

Sufficient other reports on this hike, so briefly. The road going in is as good as I have ever seen it, a sedan should be fine. Backcountry loo is in good shape and just beyond the kiosk is the sign on the right. Mt Sawyer trail is steep, but not too rocky and rooty. Flowers are gone but the berries are ripe and there was fresh bear scat in a couple of places, so he/she must have heard us and moved on. Make yourselves known. No Big Mountains at the top, but lots of little mtns between the clouds. Windy and chilly at the top, bring a jacket, but because of this, no bugs. This Tuesday my daughter joined us on our hike for our annual mom and daughter hike. #Hikeathon.
