I spent two nights camping at Big Log last week. The trail is in great shape, no logs to climb over. We saw at least four volunteer crews, possibly with Americore, working on the trail while we were there. Thank you so much to them for the work they do!! The bear wire at Big Log isn't functional but the wire across the top works great for throwing a line over to hang food. The privy was in good condition.

Mosquitoes were swarming heavily in the morning and evenings at camp, but not biting much. The road to the trailhead was in great condition – I've been here when it was full of potholes but there are none right now.

We did a day hike to Nine Stream, which looked like a challenge to cross, so we ended our hike there and headed back to camp after a long lunch break next to the creek. The forest through the section between Big Log and Nine Stream is very lovely, filled with old growth and alternating open sections with overgrown shrubs and Big Leaf Maples. We saw a lot of butterflies in these sections, but no other wildlife on this trip other than birds and squirrels.
