Second Beach — Tuesday, Jun. 10, 2025

Olympic Peninsula > Pacific Coast

We drove to La Push from Port Angeles. I must say the drive from Port Angeles to Forks is amazing. You will also pass by lake crescent on this route, which is gorgeous. Do take a break and enjoy the scenery if you can - this entire drive is jam packed with visual  treats.

WA-110 W/La Push Rd leads to the beach. It can feel like a bit of a drive. Stay with it :). You will pass Quileute school before passing the small village and then finally parking signs to Second beach.

We parked at the main parking lot. You will need to hike to get to the coast/beach. Look out for the port-a-potty and trash cans near the main parking lot; the trailhead is right around the corner.

The hike is not terribly hard but it does have some switchbacks, the trail gets muddy and bugs can be annoying. The trail itself is pretty dense. Once you finish the hike, it just puts you right on the beach.

We visited fairly early in June, we did not encounter lot of crowds there. We took pictures of sand grooves without any foot prints. It was fairly undisturbed (which I am sure will change once summer crowds start visiting).

The beach is clean (albeit some plastic bottles). Incredible views of North Pacific Ocean and rock formations and the Arch.

Tips:

1. Google maps might ask you to turn at the overflow parking. Check the signs before making that turn. If you skip the overflow parking turn and keep driving straight just little bit, you will get to the main parking area.

2. On your way out from the parking lot, follow the exit sign. Which will put you thru the gravel road (overflow parking), and on to the main road.

3. Btw, we love the 3-River resort restaurant. Nice place to grab some lunch or snacks. There are few benches outside for you to take a break and enjoy a bite.
