Trip Report

Snoquera Falls Loop — Wednesday, Jun. 4, 2025

Mount Rainier Area > Chinook Pass - Hwy 410

The more direct trail up to the falls is in excellent condition and provides a nice steady hike up to the falls.  However, the longer section of the loop trail has a 10-12 foot section that was buried in a recent rock slide.  Crossing it is treacherous because of the small and unstable rocks.  My hiking buddy took a bad fall when the rocks slide out from under him.  Until a work party gets out to repair the trail, I recommend hiking up and back on the shorter, more direct trail described in the WTA Hiking Guide, unless you are agile and adventuresome.  Except for bad section, the loop trail was a very pleasant walk down which included a nice section of old growth forest.  The falls come over a high and scenic cliff, but contain only a small stream of water at this time.  It was a windy day and gusts of wind would turn the falling water into mist from time to time.  We were the only car in the lot when we arrived at 11 and were only joined by one other party on the trail.
