Boardwalk on the lake, on the north side closest to the 240th St entrance.

#LoveLocalTrails

Clark Lake is one of my favorite local trails in Kent. I walked the loop around the lake, about 1.6 - 2.0 miles depending on which trails you take. I started from the entrance on 240th St and continued counter clockwise from the boardwalk around the lake. There is a nice gravel trail with occasional boardwalks on the north and west sides.

The gravel trail becomes a less established dirt trail through the meadows on the southern side of the lake. The southern portion was acquired by the city in 2022 and there is still room for improvement on the trail through the new property. The east side has many trails with really nice views of the lake but lots of muddy spots.

It's quite muddy this time of year! There are a couple water crossings that require a little agility over stepping stones. There are a few points in the trail that could use some drainage improvement. It was hard to avoid the mud in many sections.

Still, it's beautiful and I saw lots of little animals (frogs, birds, turtles, snakes, birds) sunning themselves today.

Throughout the whole loop, there are lots of side trails that take you to alternate access points or little groves. I love hiking this trail and seeing the old orchards and remnants of the old farmstead.

Nice gravel trail through old orchards on the west side.
Mysterious structure from the old farmstead on the south side.
Entrance to the new section of the loop trail on the south side.
