Trip Report

Padilla Bay — Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024

Puget Sound and Islands > Bellingham Area
Morning lit Heron

We started at the south end along Indian Slough. This was a nice late autumn walk without being concerned with extra equipment for going up into the mountains this time of year. Along the way there were lots of herons doing heron things-standing in water, walking in drainage, hunting and looking regal. The fog was lifting and Mount Baker made an appearance in a mix of blue and grey sky before the fog came in again on our return trip.

The porta-potty at the south trailhead is open, clean and well stocked.
