I took my kiddo on her first backpacking trip here. She loved it! It is a steep ascent and descent but worth it for the lack of crowds and privacy at the lake. The lake is beautiful and clear but very silty. The bugs could be bad at camp at times. There are Pikas chirping nearby and a great lookout on the way in of nearby mountains. Fires are allowed as it sits around 3900’ which is nice. Overall a great trip!

It's irresponsible to have a campfire in the current conditions at any elevation even if they are allowed. This website shows the fire danger level and all forest lands north of Seattle are currently in the orange (very high fire danger):
