Some snow on the road that got progressively worse. I didn't chance it in my Chevy Bolt, instead parking at the campground. I walked the road to the trailhead and passed some cars parked on the side before the snow got really bad.
Despite snow on the road, the trail itself was snow-free until about 3,000 feet, when it started to be patchy. The snow starts to be consistent around 3800 feet. I put on snowshoes soon after that. It's easy to lose the trail in the snow so gps is helpful. The trail on the Gaia base map seemed correct. The trail seemed to trend to the side of the ridge with less snow, so I ended up going up and down some steep snow slopes to avoid taking my snow shoes off. I was glad I had my axe, but those confident in using poles on steep snow should be fine. I had to get back, so turned around at about 4400 feet.
