Lost Creek Ridge — Saturday, Jul. 24, 2021

North Cascades > Mountain Loop Highway
Sunup Lake sunrise

Not a ton to call out from this overnight trip, other than the trail was in great shape (couple downed trees here and there, but no snow) and the views were incredible from the ridge on this clear weekend. Although the trail can be a little relentless, it's a very nice trail (not much in the way of rocks & roots) so it didn't feel like we had gained as much as we had. Bingley Gap was the perfect spot to grab a snack before making the final ascent to our destination. Once we reached the ridge, the views of Sloan, Bedal, & (glimpses of) Glacier were incredible.

We ultimately hiked up to Sunup Lake and set up camp in one of the two very spacious campsites next to the lake. This was probably one of the best campsites I've been to in awhile - tons of flat space to sprawl out, not on top of the other adjacent campsite, and great views of Sloan Peak right from our tent.

I decided to scramble up about halfway on the talus field next to the lake for sunrise, and it was definitely worth it. There is a faint climbers path that appeared to go all the way up to Breccia Peak, but I did not go all the way up (next time).

All in all, this is a perfect little spot for a quick overnight getaway (or couple nights).
