The road gate is closed, which ads about 2.3 miles (according to apple watch) to trailhead. The trailhead is very easy to miss, just look for an old sign post with the sign missing on the left.
The trail is flat and easy with beautiful views. At the falls the mosquitoes let us know they were there but it wasn’t too bad. We were able to sit and have lunch without issue. It is also very clear that people use this spot as there were soiled childrens underwear and other human items left behind. Very happy we did this during the winter and we were able to avoid any crowds.
No snow on road or trail on the day we were there.

Toilet Paper Falls, a trip report by infodawg.
The falls area was strewn with toilet paper, almost everywhere we could see, save for the shore near the river. It was heartbreaking to see. This is OUR public land people, can we not have decent access???
The smaller river channel leaving the pool below the falls contained human feces, and perhaps dog feces. This small channel was a fecund stew of nastiness, and contained quite noticeable algae(?) blooms and other nasty looking byproducts. Where the small channel rejoins the river, there was a whirlpool of heavy foam.
I'm not including any pics of this mess because A, I was too disgusted to take any, and B, if you read this report, I don't want you to see what I saw. It was absolutely heartbreaking and disgusting. (trust me, we had to eat lunch here, it was either here or find another spot to cook.) However, in the photo I uploaded, you can see all the foam swirling in the water where the small channel returns to the river.
My question is this: should we the public expect better of nature areas that we own and that we entrust the government to manage, and profit from? Should we expect a site like Wynoochee Falls to be functioning, welcoming and clean? Or should we rather resign ourselves to renaming it Toilet Paper Falls?

Not the easiest to find but if you follow the directions and watch your mileage you can figure it out. No signs and gravel roads with turnoffs occasionally. The trail has no markings just a path off the road. About 50 feet from the trailhead is the remnants of a sign with 2 metal posts sticking out for what’s left of it.
The trail is narrow and rocky and mostly a slight downhill to the falls with the last 50 years of trail being pretty steep and unstable with rocks. Not a super long trail but good enough to feel like you stretched your legs and got your heart pumping on the hike back up to the car.
The falls were beautiful and had a nice flow. The “sand” rock bar was fun to wade over to. Has a nice slow whirlpool area and a couple deep slow moving spots I would imagine could be fun to jump into on a scorching summer day. Unfortunately this June hasn’t been very warm and the water was still freezing and fairly fast. Overall a beautiful secluded spot with beautiful views and scenery.
Also worth checking out Maidenhair Falls a couple miles back down the road. There’s also a waterfall off the road between the two trails. It was a nice surprise.
*No cell service anywhere on our hikes so make sure you remember your way back out and directions home because you are without any service the last 45 minutes of the journey… basically once you hit the gravel roads.
This is a great little place to swim and get your feet wet while enjoying the old growth trees and clear waters of the Wynoochee river. We enjoyed a swim under the waterfall and the sheer beauty of a gorgeous sunny Fall day in a mountain forest. We had the place to ourselves for the majority of our visit.
The trail has a little bit of a descent as you go from the small parking area to down the old logging road to the river. This is likely a popular place in the warmer months. Follow the hike description to find the small parking area. It was not marked when we went.

The road up to the parking area was bumpy but not too bad. We were able to dodge potholes in our Subaru and low clearance was fine. We had the place to ourselves on this sunny Monday.
Pretty woods and falls alongside the road, and nice woods along the short trail. The trail was in good condition and the falls were very impressive!
A pretty stand of corydalis was in full bloom near the river's edge, making for nice photos.
