Great little hike to do when you don't have a lot of time and need to get out. No larches on the trail but also after the turn off from Diablo Lake trail few people. Only 3 coming back and two following up. The waterfall was small but an excellent drop. I would recommend this hike for people trying to get back into shape and cannot spend a full day on a longer hike.
Went to hunt for this hike, but didn't quite find the trailhead, so we opted for a different one. Wanted to report that the barriers the previous hiker noted are no longer present. Parking lot was near full (though some consistent turn over), people were swimming in Lake Diablo, which is accessible via the parking lot.

Great little hike. We started on the Diablo Lake trail, then turned onto the Sourdough creek trail. Nicely built trail with shelters and benches throughout. We saw four deer right off the trail, which was really neat. The fall leaves were amazing and the falls were pretty.
