Snoqualmie falls is going great gangbuster right now. The view from the observation decks are impressive but it is difficult to get photos due to heavy mist blasting out of the falls and blurring the camera lens. A short trail to the bottom of the falls gives a different and definitely dryer perspective. The trail was regraded and covered with gravel sometime last year. It is a nice surface to walk on a rainy day. Also some nice mossy forest on the way down. There is a parking lot at the bottom of the trail that apparently is accessed from SE Fish Hatchery Road. Walked the new Puget Sound Energy trail that links the upper and lower areas of Snoqualmie Falls Park. This 1/4 mile path is wide, smooth and gently steep. Along the way, interpretive signs describe native vegetation in a Pacific Northwest forest. The re-built boardwalk that leads to the base of Snoqualmie Falls was very icy! The view of the falls, river, and riparian areas are outstanding. Additional signs detail the history of local native people and hydropower at Snoqualme Falls. Restrooms are available. This is a great trail for families and pets!

My wife, Milo, the dog, and I hiked the new Snoqualmie Falls Trail. The trail is nice, short, and easy with gravel cover and the new and improved boardwalk. You can see trees and water pipes and a generator plant along the way. The upper trailhead is 450 ft in elevation and the lower falls viewpoint is at 154 ft. The waterfall was very powerful from the recent rain.

I hiked the new Snoqualmie Falls trail with my 2-1/2 and 5 yr old sons back on Sept 21 2013. The trail one-way is about 0.6 miles with elevation changes from 442 ft to 64 ft, according to my walking GPS. On that day, the lower boardwalk allowing views to the falls was closed. When I inquired, it was closed to install a new handrail. I suspect that has been resolved by now. The base also has its own parking lot with excellent restroom facilities at N 47 32.731; w 121 50.437. This lot appears to be accessible via SE Fish Hatchery Road, albeit I didn’t confirm. Use maps.bing.com, enter “n 47 32.731; w 121 50.437” in the search box, press Search (enter) and then click on Bird’s eye. The hike was short and enjoyable.
