Last mile of road has some runoff ruts, but our Ford Fiesta sedan did fine with some maneuvering.

TH is at 3600', snow free. Continuous snow starting at about 4500'. Most of the trail is in trees so low consolidated snow except in open spots. Near Scorpion Mtn summit, probably 18-24 inches deep. We didn't use snowshoes but with more/fresh snow they would be advisable.

Spacious summit with good views. On the way out we met a couple going there to camp, it would be a nice spot.

Hiked to Scorpion Mountain. Trail is in great shape. The road was better than I expected. Not bad, just a few potholes. The air was smoky, but doable. Colors are turning and the berries are only at the too. Fun to revisit this place after a number of years.

This is a beautiful trail, and I’m sure the scenery would have been spectacular if not for the poor air quality. We will definitely return when it’s a bit clearer. The ripe blueberries almost made up for the smoky sky.

The road to the trailhead is mostly good, but there are some large potholes as you get higher, so drive carefully.  The climbs are steep but brief, including the climb up from Joan Lake.  As the hike follows the ridge, there’s no water until you reach the lake.

Three geezers started at 8:10am. None too early for a hot day . First on the trail for the day . Met a father daughter as we were departing the top at 12:15. Two other cars at the trail Head when we were leaving.Berries were best up high.
