Great trail! Faded a bit at times so be sure to download the hike onto an electronic device. We saw a lot of wildflowers - a bit past prime but still pretty. Parts of the trail are fairly long stretches in full sun, so not a hot weather hike. Great views! We turned around not far from the Oregon border before we descended more elevation than we wanted to come back up at that point.

I arrived Friday afternoon with plans to do a short dayhike, meet a friend at nearby Godman Campground, camp for the first night, and then backpack Saturday/Sunday. I haven't been to Sawtooth Ridge for several years so I wanted to make a return visit.
It took me a minute to remember how the trail left the parking lot, as there's no signage aside from the big kiosk in the parking lot and the trailhead appears to be heavily utilized as a dispersed campsite, too.
On trail I initially found typical early-spring conditions, with some downfall but nothing that was too difficult to navigate around. I hiked out to Berry Spring since I couldn't find it on my previous visit, and this time located it easily. But once I got to Burnt Flat I found snow completely covering the trail. I hiked beyond Burnt Flat into the trees for about a half-mile, but then decided I'd rather go see some spring flowers instead of old snow & turned back for the day. The flowers are from Godman Campground, and they were spectacular!

I walked out to just past the junction with Lady Camp, about 3 miles from the trailhead, where the trail becomes completely obscured by snow. Nice views over to Table Rock and ridge lines further south. About 6-8 trees down on the section I walked. No issues getting to the trailhead from Dayton via either Rd 46 or 64.

Flowers were out. Views were excellent. Trail was good, with intermittent snow that could be crossed or circumvented. However, at top of hill, at about 1.9 mile marker we lost the trail in a snow mound. Believe the snow mound was limited, however could not locate the trail on the perimeter of the snow so we turned around. Planning to rehike on June 9, will update conditions.

A truly beautiful hike! Signs are not the best getting to the trailhead, but after a few wrong turns we found it ok. Nice and cool at the top, so that you aren't dying in the direct sunlight that exists for most of the trail. The views are stunning, from about a mile in and onward you have a gorgeous view of all the surrounding blues!
As people have mentioned in previous reports, the path is really difficult to find a times. Not because it is overgrown, but simply that it isn't used very often and is faint at times. If you seem to wander off the trail, back track and look around a bit. Thank you to all the helpful people who made cairns to help point out the path to take! At the end, we simply ran out of trail, so not such if we reached the real end, but seemed at the right distance.
The trail is very sandy and rocky at points, as well as sloped sideways, so hiking boots are recommended for ankle support, but you should be okay in sneakers. It is truly a beautiful trail!
