Not much to add to other posts here--just a confirmation that the trail is still in great shape! Blueberries near the meadows are fantastic. Perry Creek Tr
ail had zero obstacles. The creek itself is of course quite low and passable. There were two dribbling creeks right above the Falls/Crossing, and a small rainwater pond up in the meadows--otherwise no more water sources.
The Mount Forgotten summit trail was not particularly easy to track with, particularly in the fog. But with a little common sense you can find your way thru, even if off the trail for a bit. Easier to follow when descending.
Overall a steep climb, but well worth the effort! Enjoy 😊!

The trail was in good condition, only a handful of trees across the trail. Most had a good route around or had been chain sawed to a manageable step over.
The trail starts flat on compact dirt and alternates with rocky sections for the first couple miles and minimal elevation gain. You cross the creek at 3.3 miles and then the real climbing starts. *note this is the only reliable water source so fill up here for the challenging climbing. Climb through the shady forest for the next couple miles. It was tough for me and a rest stop with food at the falls would have dramatically improved my climb.
There were many huckleberries on the hike up but they were a bit sour. Peekaboo views of peaks kept us motivated. I think we were seeing Big Four and Dickerman.
Then we arrived at a little trail up to the left for a magnificent view of Bake, Shuksan and a bunch of peaks in front of them for a perfect picture of mountain layers. Really breath taking. But don't stop here just 5 more minutes of climbing and we made it to Mount Forgotten Meadows. Unlike the tart huckleberries the blue berries were sweet and delicious. keep moving through the Meadow to get Northern views and a small pond could offer water if you brought your filter.
Get your camera ready for the most incredible picture opportunities.
This was challenging but I would definitely do it again.

Amazing hike up Perry Creek and then up Mt Forgotten. Both are hard steep hikes, so be ready for a challenge. Took us roughly 4 hrs to summit. A key route note: For Perry Creek, once you hit Perry Creek Falls, you cross a stream nearby. We then couldn't find the trail and were only able to continue by going left across a very large, very white log.

Otherwise, a few areas where large trees have fallen and you need to climb over. The final 500 ft of elevation to summit Mt Forgotten is quite tough -- basically a scramble up a rocky, very sheer slope. Views are absolutely stunning (also stunning at Mt Forgotten Meadows and the "fake" Mt Forgotten Meadows

Very few ppl on the trail

With no takers on my last minute invite (you know who you are!), this was a solo hike. I originally had ambitions of making it up Mount Forgotten but as I surveyed the boot path beyond the meadows and remembered it's challenges again, I was uncomfortable doing that and the scramble to the top of Mount Forgotten solo. (Could it be that it would have made me late for dinner entered into the decision?)

Anyhow, on to a report.

The water crossings (one perhaps a quarter mile below the falls, and the other across Perry Creek just past the falls) were quite reasonable. There were logs across the trail, mostly on the grind up from the falls, but all pretty easy to deal with. As noted in recent reports, the meadow was buggy. (I wasn't the only one using a net up there!)  Also, there were just a few patches of snow left at the meadows.

Today was supposed to be a cooler day this week and the temperature was indeed perfect, though, as you can see, the clouds that came with the weather system passing to the north limited visibility quite a bit. And yes, there were plenty of wildflowers!

After reading mention of Peak 5396 in a previous trip report, I went up myself and highly recommend it - a short distance and awesome view!

After a failed attempt a few years ago, I was glad to finally get to the actual meadows on a beautiful weather day.  Puffy clouds made for great photo contrast.

This is really a 3 part trail.  First flat bit from the parking lot to the valley is wonderful big forest.  Second long stretch up the valley was nice in the morning but hot in the afternoon sun.  The third stretch after the creek crossing was a real grind of about 1k per mile.  As we got up higher the bugs really increased, to the point where we put on our head nets at the first saddle/viewpoint.

  • Few blowdowns but all easy to get over and around.
  • Trail in good shape.
  • Creek crossing easy on dry rocks.
  • Some snow patches remain at the main meadow area.
  • The tarns are all nice and full of both water and mosquito larvae!
