There was no line at the Longmire entrance when we arrived at 10:30am, and there was even ample parking available in the overflow lot at Paradise. Unfortunately, the mountain was socked in clouds and mist all day, but we didn't let that stop us from enjoying our trek. Paradise Visitor Center is capped at twenty five people at a time, only the gift shop and limited food service available, no exhibits. Restrooms open.

We hiked the Skyline Loop Trail starting at Paradise Visitor Center and went counterclockwise via Myrtle Falls. Although the wildflowers are past their prime, even with thirty foot visibility the meadows are amazingly beautiful.

We were treated to parades of chipmunks, marmots, pikas, ground squirrels, and ptarmigans.

The chilly, misty weather kept the bugs away. No snow on the trail.

A big thank you to the WTA volunteers  we saw on the trail!

Even though the mountain stayed hidden, we greatly enjoyed this trail!

Exquisite day to visit Paradise punctuated by emerging mountain heather and hillsides of Avalanche Lilies. Arrived at Paradise at 9:45 am. Parking was full, full, full. We looped past main lots found a spot on the downhill side of Paradise Valley across from the Fourth Crossing trailhead. About a 15 minute hoof back to the visitor center. Prepare for the throng of zombie meadow stomping tourists for they will drive you mad at their cluelessness. National Park folks do a great job of hosting and spreading the mob out a bit so that everyone has some space. Hiked Skyline trail to Panorama Point. Seemed like an endless parade of people on that hike, but it was well worth it as the views were stunning. Heartening to see so many people chilling and families out and about enjoying this treasure. We knew it would be jammed up there, but hey what do you expect? America’s on vacation, so get an early start and soak it all in!
