This is a great place to go with kids. They have a fewer playground from the last one we had went there 3 years ago. The trails are in great shape. My kids were so excited about all the bridges to cross. 7 types of flowers in bloom, too! There is access to the beach. Lots of little crabs and we saw a jellyfish. Highly recommend. We walked all the trails in the state park and then went a mile out on the Olympic Discovery Trail. They are doing construction right near it in a few spots.

I walk/ran from the Morse Creek Trailhead west. Crews have been working on this area recently, and have cleared out some muddy areas and worked on drainage. I went about 1.5-2 miles from the trailhead (to the little point past the area that is frequently muddy) and encountered no obstacles.

It was nice to get out, my daughter went for a walk while I ran and our dog and a guest dog all had a nice walk.

Lots of seabirds today! Even saw a juvenille bald eagle up in a tree eating a massive fish.

I love that this trail runs all across the top of Olympic Peninsula. And I love that it's used by all sorts of folks. People walk, run, bike, birdwatch, take their kids out for some exercise. I really love the section of trail between Morse Creek and Port Angeles because there's such a great view of the water. We often see seals or otters as well as eagles and a ton of other birds.

We walked a small section of the paved Olympic Discovery trail while staying in Port Angeles.  We hiked a mile or so on the section from the ferry terminal East.  It's a nice option anytime but a particularly nice option after dinner, if you have eaten too much but still want ice cream.

This section is along the water with wildflowers aligning the trail.  If we'd brought bikes it would be fun to explore further.  Maybe next time.

PS I fully attribute my ability to eat the requisite ice cream, to this trail.

A section of this trail is closed due to a mudslide between downtown Port Angeles and Four Season Ranch/Morse Creek to the east. You can still walk east from downtown, but will eventually hit a closed sign.

We hiked from the Strait View / Morse Creek trailhead of the Olympic Discovery Trail, west about three miles out and three back. This section of the trail starts out in a pretty forest, then opens into a lovely Strait view.

There are no trash cans or bathrooms at this trailhead, but there is a trash can just past the Morse Creek bridge, a few hundred yards from the trailhead. At 10:00, the parking lot was about 40% full. We saw lots of bikes and some other dogs.
