Delightful hike. Loved the variety of environments. Waterfall at end was fuller than I expected. Had hike all to ourselves except when 3 more people showed up at the end of the hike as we were leaving.

Snowy hike that was passable in good hiking boots (no other gear needed). Switchbacks contained very little snow. Snow was mostly slushy with a few icy portions of trail. Fallen tree on trail maybe quarter mile before you get to the trail closure. My 4-year-old hiked the whole way; my two-year-old did all but switchbacks.

Snow intermittent on switchbacks and constant on the lower portions, sometimes treacherous as you approach the turnaround point.  Still, lots of fun seeing the river, the first part of the canyon, and remnants of the railroad.

We did this trail for the first time as our New Year hike and it was great! It's easy with the slightest bit of elevation change at towards the beginning of the trail/at the end when you come back. Everything is green and the trail is peaceful as we didn't run into too many people. I didn't realize there was a waterfall at the end because we did this on a whim just passing through on mountain loop, which was a cool surprise! It's also a great turn around spot (you can't really go any further). Great trail for kids or if you just want to get out and stretch your legs :)
