Nice little soggy day adventure. Wet conditions were generally not too much of a problem, but we wore good waterproof hiking shoes with good grip. There were a couple minor water crossings and some mud pits. Along with the history and the canyon itself, the quantity of moss and the different ecosystems you pass through were very cool.
Road/Parking: Paved all the way, decent amount of roadside parking, although someone sadly decided to park some broken furniture there today. No map or facilities.
Trail: Fairly soft decline into the canyon with just a couple steepish parts. nice wide trail. There is one offshoot on the west side that will take you to an abandoned car that you can just make out from the main trail. Once you get down the terrain gets a little wetter and you pass through some halls of mossy trees and reads before joining the river. The river was racing today! The trail along the river gets a bit bumpier and you can see rock walls and wood in places. Still felt totally fine in the wet but if it was icy I think I might pass, there was quite a drop in many areas. Very impressive and a wonder that someone found this area and decided this was the best route.
At the slide there is a tree hanging down from the cliff, still attached by the remains of the stump. The top of it is head down, caught in the undulating water of the river, and you can see the whole tree rhythmically moving! However unstable the slide already is, I'm sure this is not helping and may bring more down with it sooner or later.
Stats: 2.5 miles with some side exploring (car was he only cool discovery though) 248 ft elevation gain/loss, 1.5 hours total, 1.2 moving. We are moderate/fast hikers who hike weekly.

Not very busy. Some parts get pretty narrow near the water but they were pretty easily passable. The open oprtion of the trail rail ends next to a water wall that's pretty cool. Wife and I didn't continue past the approved end so no word on tunnel or anything. Highly recommend this gorgeous hike.
My friend and I had a couple hours to get out for some fresh air, so we booked in down to enjoy the views of Old Robe. We got to see a bunny and several birds. After Old Robe, we watched the Salmon jump at Granite Falls Fish ladder for quite a while! These fish were Huge! So powerful working their way up the river! Wow! so mesmerizing! Really had a wonderful little outing this morning.
