Great hike - VERY muddy. Day was perfect for a picnic in the meadow.

Once we found the correct side of the bridge it is very easy to get to the trail, park on the far side and walk back. This was a fun but very muddy hike today, fun to see the rock structures! You can walk through the field and down to the river where there is a waterfall.

Fun day hike. We went about 5.25mi round-trip. Did not make it all the way to the ruins, however there are some nifty ones along the way and great mountain views. Watch out for dirtbikers and 4-wheelers.

We followed the directions on this site and found that the climb down to the trail could be difficult for anyone who doesn't have any experience with scrambling or climbing. Otherwise, the trail was fine, though very muddy. We saw a couple groups of hunters on ATVs, so wear orange on this hike in the fall. There wasn't much to see at the town site so we followed the lower trail for about an hour and a half to a gorgeous beach on the river. The muddy sections are only where the ATVs go, this trail was fine after the town site. There were a lot of spiders making webs across the trail, so watch out for them.

Had a gorgeous day to hike, and took our two children. One was in a pack (age 2) and the other hiked with us (4). There was a lot of mud on the trail, and a lot of watery, muddy spots to carefully get through without getting shoes stuck or covered in mud. We didn't know which way to go first upon clambering down under the bridge, and incorrectly went to the right first. We decided to try turning around once our phones loaded this page for prior reports, and we went as far as the old dynamite shack. We went back at that point, about an hour after hiking, as we needed to get lunch. I might come back if it's late summer with less mud, and with better directions on where to go.
