The trail was fantastic! I didn’t know what to expect and showed up with my two dogs to try something easy and short. The trail was well kept with lots of little lookouts and options (like walk uphill or use the stairs). The waterfall was gorgeous and the sounds could be heard well before you see it. I really enjoyed the well kept garden in the entry as well as the signs pointing out different wildlife.

While staying in Port Ludlow for a weekend getaway, I explored this little trail and the larger network of Port Ludlow trails. The trail is short, but the signs located along the trail really enhanced the 30 minute experience, providing information on both the area's human and natural histories. Finding the signs themselves is almost like a scavenger hunt, and there are just enough as to be informative but not overwhelming.
The trail itself is scenic, wandering through some old growth forest with the sound of rushing water overlaying the entire walk. Taking the loop as directed, you only come to the waterfalls at the very end of the hike, so you can shortcut by turning right instead of left at the trailhead if desired. The waterfall itself is peaceful and larger than I expected. To extend your visit, you can pack lunch and eat at the picnic table next to the waterfall, which in hindsight, I wish I'd done.
This is a lovely stop if you are in the area and want to stretch your legs a bit, but it is not necessarily a hike that I would drive out of your way to. However, exploring the town of Port Ludlow could easily fill an afternoon if you so choose. (If you have not looked into the town's over 30 mile trail network, I particularly recommend Osprey Trail, Picnic Point, and Around the Bay Trail to extend your walk.) There is plenty of parking on the gravel road/lot by the trailhead with easy access to nearby restaurants and a convenience store.

Trail was a great experience for me having had a total knee replacement done six weeks ago. I took poles with me for the upward and downward sections where there were no handrails and was confident in my ability. My friends had never been to this trail and one had had a career in the logging industry - we each enjoyed the informative signs and trail design.

Beautiful trail. Parts were paved and other parts unpaved, but very easy to navigate. Lots of dense tree cover, but there were several glowy areas where the sun broke through.
The hike up to the falls was totally worth it. As soon as you step onto the trail, you'll hear the falls calling you.
And if you happen to have creaky knees, there are several benches and places to sit. But there are steps built into a portion of the trail, so keep that in mind when planning your trip.
