We did not hike this entire trail but did the portion between the lower and middle falls about 2 miles apart. Easy trail, open to bikes, with some steep drop offs to the river below. Especially notable is the campground located at the lower falls. Still operated by the forest service (not a vendor), it's especially pretty. The lower falls are paticularly impressive, see photo. About 50+ miles east of I-5 on the Lewis River Road. Gateway to the high country around Mt Adams.

Beware of: snow, trail conditions

I hiked from the trailhead at Curly Creek to the Bolt Camp Shelter. The trails is in not that bad of shape. There were a few down logs and brush weighted down by the snow. There was one slide just before the first bridge with lots of mud at that point. Also found patches of snow about one mile in from the trailhead. Road 90 is blocked by snow to low clearance vehicles but should be snow free in two weeks.

Went up to the horse camp and tried to follow the trails there , only could go so far with our horses. All the trails are in bad conditions. that is a real shame its such beautiful country up there . I hope someone will go in to maintain the trails so everyone can go horseback riding again. SassiLee

We looked at the Lewis River Trail and were planning the next several WTA work parties with the crew leaders Tom and Mark. We hiked from 1/2 mile below the Lower Falls Recreation area up to the Quartz Creek Trail. Plenty of work to be done. It was a very sunny and warm day. The trail is in overall good condition, but there is some windfalls and a slide near Upper falls.
