Loganberry Trail is a new trail being made at Loganberry Lane near Kasch Park in Everett. This trail has been worked on and is having new tread and gravel put down. There have already been a few fences created to close most social trails in the area. There has also been a new installation of a boardwalk along a section of the trail that goes over the wetlands area. At the moment it is still under construction. The work party was a big success as we made much progress on a few different sections of the trail. It was a cold but clear day. The path is mostly frozen but a few muddy spots. Working under our crew leader Doug was great.

As part of an ongoing community project at Kasch Park, this was my second time helping with WTA there. We had a big group (17-18) and tackled a big section of trail.
We got a late start as we were waiting for a participant who got caught in traffic. That gave us plenty of opportunity to stretch during introductions and I learned about a cool game I ordered for my family, Charty Party. Thanks for the prompt, Josh!
We walked ten feet from the parking lot and started building a brand new trail. HARD WORK! I think by 2:30 everyone was more than ready to call it a day. During the second half of lunch, I grabbed the opportunity to check out previous areas I'd helped in and was saddened to see one section of new fence disturbed from a downed tree from a pre-Thanksgiving windstorm, but delighted to see that the trails which have been decommissioned to help protect the wetlands have stayed decommissioned.
A satisfying day of digging up roots under cold but dry conditions (OMG those cottonwoods have mega roots!) and I look forward to another in January.

A wet, rainy, cold day for a trail maintenance party but today's crew was buoyant, upbeat, bubbly, spirited, and hard-working. Our three projects were: 1. Continuing to build a fence; 2. Cart gravel by buckets and wheelbarrow loads to help with the fence project; and 3. Decommissioning social trails near the wetlands. I'm not sure I've ever left an adventure quite as muddy as this one!
One of the trails that had previously been decommissioned had been de-decommissioned by hikers, so we made sure that trail was no longer a trail. Now, with new ferns and heavy branches and logs, it looks wonderful and can be restored to its natural state.
There were plenty of families enjoying youth soccer and the dog park. It's wonderful to see so many cool places on WTA, it's really expanded my repertoire.
We had a fun discussion about Mt. Rainier under the canopy during lunch, after which the rain picked up and folks looked a little less eager to venture back to the trail. But we persevered! This was only my second WTA party (in recent years); my sincere apologies if this is listed as something other than Kasch Park.
