Imagine the Hoh rain forest without people and you have the Ira Spring Wetlands trail. We saw two parties in three miles. The trail is in great shape, and the trees are really big and really mossy. Easy drive in, though a few potholes in the last mile or so. Vault toilet at the trailhead. Since we usually stay in LaPush, this trail has the additional advantage of being much closer to our base camp. We’ll be back.

This hike was beautiful!!! Forests of sword ferns, mushrooms and mossy, big trees. Our GPS told us we hiked 4.2 miles around the loop. Important to know when you’re hiking with parents who told you their knees can only handle 3 miles. They were troopers and the scenery was of course a wonderful distraction. Trail is very muddy at parts.

This was a very cute, quick, well-maintained trail that I decided to do spontaneously while I was in the area. Encountered no other hikers, so I had the whole 3-mile loop to myself. This is a great choice if you need a little workout, but not anything too strenuous. A good portion of the loop (toward the "end" if you're going clockwise) is flat and very accessible, and otherwise it just takes nice little rambles through the forest and around the wetland. I think this would be a great trail to do with kids.
The road definitely had some very rough potholes, but it's not a long drive and was very doable with my high-clearance small SUV. You could do it in a sedan if you took your time.
Overall, a great little jaunt in the woods!
Beautiful trail! Very nice, easy pleasant hike with kids and dog. I can see how this trail could be very muddy during the rainy season but was just fine today. Nice little boardwalks and log bridges, small streams/seeps make it fun and interesting. A lovely afternoon hike :)
