This was a great hike with the kiddos. The trail is wide, and paved for a large stretch of the way. Beware that there are a lot of stinging nettle, my child brushed against it while he was looking at something else in the brush.

When you arrive at the beach there are blackberry bushes! They were black and mostly ripe but still tart, which we didn't mind. probably nice and sweet next week. When we arrived it was about an hour past high tide and there was still enough because to walk around and explore. The beach is all round rocks (like river rocks) and you can find tiny snails (periwinkles?), shore crabs, and limpets on and under the rocks.

On our return trip we saw a large lizard and a pair of garter snakes! Most of my pics on this trip were of the kids and not the trail itself.

My gps watch measured the trail at 3.8 miles including our beach meandering.

Both paved and soft surface. There were a few spots where it was wet, but nothing to worry about.

Trail is an easy out and back perfect for families and people of all ages. I love coming out the beach and walking through the trees. We drove from Tacoma, an easy 20 minute drive down I-5 and hardly anyone there at 9:30 am on a Sunday. Port a potty was clean too, no hand sanitizer. Would definitely do again!

My son (5) and I liked the short hike. There's wasn't a lot of foot traffic. There is lots of old equipment and bridge parts to check out along the way. We continued down the beach to the old concrete boat. If you want to go out as far as the boat, you must check tide charts before heading out.

Want an easy urban trail? This one is great! Parking here is never an issue.  It’s mostly shaded and travels above a creek below. The trail ends on the waterfront which has a short area of beach to walk. Trail was busy today with runners, folks with dogs, and casual walkers. Wildflowers along the trail are starting to bloom!
