Had a great backpack trip. Up Goat Ridge to Goat Lake. Then down thru Snowgrass Flats to Cispus Pass and on to Sheep Lake. Then back down through Snowgrass Flats to Snowgrass trailhead. Goat Ridge and Goat Lake were both windy and bug free. The rest of the trip was pretty buggy. The wildflowers everywhere were gorgeous. Really crowded on the weekend, but the crowds died off on Sunday night.
This was one of several trips to the upper Cispus Basin in the Fall of 1975. Each of the trips started from Packwood and crossed a rickety old bridge over the Cispus River taking the Snowgrass Flat trail to the cutoff to the Pacific Crest trail. On each of the trips we camped above the cirque above the Cispus basin just below the PCT. I recently pulled our a number of my slides from those trips including a solo climb of Mt. Curtis Gilbert. I can post those if there is any interest.
I am posting a photo of one of our campsites above the cirque. I had scrambled up to the Packwood Glacier and composed this photo to include the beautiful wild flowers in the foreground. Does anyone else remember those wild flowers on the PCT in that area?
