This is a lovely, rugged and rarely visited trail. We had the entire trail to ourselves. At the top, the panoramic views are gorgeous.
The trail is rocky and has large roots in many areas. There is vegetation that needs brushing, especially in the upper areas before the trail begins descending again.
The road getting there does require a higher clearance vehicle. My Subaru Outback made it with no problems.
As the gate will be closed on October 1, it is a great time to go and enjoy a hike here.

Road 600 is passable for all vehicles. It has mt "speed bumps" ie drainages ditches across the road to handle the water flow at regular intervals.Easily navigated at a slow speed. I had the trail all to myself! Some of the most impressive old growth I have seen, and the western hemlock near the top of the ridge is outstanding. Blueberries start after the old road bed and are prolific all the way up to the ridge and down the other side. The climb up to the ridge is in deep shade gratefully appreciated on this hot day but the other side was really warm and more exposed in areas. Dropped down about a half mile or more before I turned around as my 14 yr old dog was feeling the heat and worried about him making the climb back to the ridge. Flowers blooming still but missed the real show earlier in the season. There are some peek a boo views near the ridge. Will definitely go back to see the lakes. My greens trail map(Mt Tebo) showed 1.5 miles one way which was definitely wrong.

Did not hike. Drive most of the way to Church Creek trailhead under the impression that road was passable for all vehicles, which it was until we turned left onto 600. The steep, rutted road was not passable for our small, low clearance hatchback. Not knowing how far up the trailhead was from that turnoff, we turned around.
Note: the trailhead on Google maps is not the same trailhead that the WTA directions point to.

We couldn’t get to the trail, the snow was too intense. We have 24 in tires and couldn’t make it. All the other trails in the area except for around the lake are inaccessible. Best to try again in a few weeks/month is my guess.
