The wildflowers are delightful this year! Lots of phlox, balsamroot, and these lovely yellow ones that I can't remember the name of. They won't be blooming much longer, so I'm glad I got to see them. It was a clear day, and we could see Mount Adams and the tip of Rainier from the top of Candy Mountain.
Quite a few hikers out, even on a weekday. Everyone had their dogs on leash, as required. We didn't see any snakes, but be aware that they're out there!

My In-laws recently moved to this area and we have been looking at this hike for a little while and finally tackled it today. Went hiking with my family, including a 3 year old. The parking lot is really well maintained and there is quite a bit of parking space. Hike starts off very gentle with the last little bit of it being where most of the elevation is gained. Views are great all along the trail, including little snippets of the Yakima and Columbia river. The toddler made it to the top just fine on his own and we will definitely be hiking it again soon

This is a fantastic wildflower hike and they're pretty much perfect right now!
I'll also add that this is a beautiful and nearly perfect trail with wide gravel and no barriers. I was amazed at it's maintaining the exact same grade the entire time.
There are good interpretive signs about the plants as well as the fascinating geology of the area.
Highly recommend this hike this time of year.
