This was a fun, quick hike. It was actually more of a walk. It was misleading to find the trailhead, its actually on the side you park on, not the side of the road the vault is on. Once you cross the bridge, veer to the right and continue walking that way staying near the road to find the two largest "ruins". This is a fun one for kids but only takes about 15-30 minutes to complete depending on how long you hang out in the structures. I would not call this a "town" though. It was more of like one building that is being reclaimed by the forest. It was pretty though!

This was a lovely little adventure that I took the day after Thanksgiving. Easy access due to its close proximity to the road. Keep South of the creek and look for the wooden bridge (pictured) to cross to the actual "Ghost Town". Although there was a very light dusting of snow/ frost, it was manageable and easy to navigate. Very cool!

This was an incredible hike! Fair warning: it took us a couple of times driving past to finally find the trailhead, but you will find it eventually, don't give up. The trails were also REALLY muddy so bring some good hiking shoes - or just be ready to get your feet muddy if you're dedicated to your Chacos, like me. It's fascinating to see all of the half-destroyed buildings and the bricks that are scattered all over the trail(s). It's really cool to see how the ghost town is integrated into the nature that surrounds it. There are metal pieces sticking up out of the ground and trees that started growing out of mechanical gears. The few structures that are still standing are overgrown with ivy and moss. It's a truly beautiful sight and an awesome adventure. For more of my pictures of the town, click the link on this post to my blog and go explore this ghost town.

Took us about an hour to find the stone building and actually mistook several trail heads. When driving the building will be on the right side of the road and will be heavily gratified. There are stinging nettles so I would bring some Benadryl!

This hike is in the SE corner of Capitol Forest (in the Mima Falls area, and about 2 miles before you get to the Bob Brammert hiking trail) To get to it, go down Bourdeaux Rd, you will see an old mossy building on the left and a small turnout for two cars on the left. (And this is before you get to the entrance to Capitol Forest.) Park there and follow the trail into the woods (there's two small openings going into the woods, choose the one closest to Capitol Forest and you will be able to get to a bridge that takes you to the ruins) It's approx 1/4-1/2 mile walk it's very close to the road, but hidden enough you won't see it when driving. Also, it's been very muddy the 2 times I have been there, so wear boots. Also, you may want to wear pants, I wore shorts one time I was scratched up when I was done. The very first time I went the place was so spooky and creepy. The second time, nearly a year later, there was bottles and graffiti everywhere and I was so disappointed. That's ruining this magical place and those who come to see it, so please please do not deface the ruins while you are there.
