After driving back and forth down the road a number of times I decided to take this photo of the parking strip and the bank vault from the road to help others find the trail.

If you love history, this place is truly magical. The trail itself is not well marked, there are trails all over the place and the entire place is wet, boggy and slippery (we did this mid November) but it was so much fun exploring every nook and cranny, trying to find more ruins and artifacts laying around. Unfortunately we spotted quite a bit of trash in the area but nonetheless a beautiful forest to explore and a lot more than .5 miles to explore if you're willing.

The hardest part of this trail is finding it. This time of year you cannot see the "building on the right" that others have said to use as your landmark. What I can say is that if you get to the Bob Bammert grove trail, which is clearly marked with a large sign, you have gone about 0.5 miles too far. Once you enter the Capital Forest area look for a fairly large parking area on your left. It holds approx. 5 cars if they are all pulled straight in. The trailhead is slightly to the right. You will know that you are on the correct trail immediately if you cross a footbridge over the creek. Once over you will find many little trails to take. We stayed right on all of them and came to the ruins quickly. The trails are not marked but we never felt it an issue. They wander around the area but all seem to end back in the same general area. As a grandparent I was checking to see if I would bring my grandchildren 3 & 4, here. I will not at this point. In a year or two I may change my mind. The ruins are very intriguing but there are a number of "holes" that small children who are overly curious might get hurt. We found a trail behind the incinerator that went a short way UP the hill. There was nothing at the top that we could see however the trail did continue on. We turned back because we were not prepared to hike further. We will go back and explore again after researching more about the old town.

*BEWARE of a white, early-mid 90s Camry/Accord prowling the area* Went out to see the old ghost town today, and my car got broken into. Luckily the alarm scared off the jerks who smashed my window! I didn't get a look at the perps, but happened to see a 90s white sedan speed away toward the Prison/Campground with two people inside. Sorry I can't give any more information than that It was good to see the town for a bit! Sad to see that the vandals have discovered it in recent years.
