On a sunny Father's day, the more developed part of Blythe Park in Bothell was full of families and disc golf players. We wanted to get a little longer walk in so we explored the trails and made a 4.0 mile 660 foot gain loop with the latter part returning through the neighborhood to the south of the park, and using Gaia, finding the little trail that connects the neighborhood with the southern part of the park. Constructed partly for mountain biking, the trail that switchbacks up through the woods is very well graded and makes an easy ascent. There's a bench with a view at the top, along the Tolt Pipeline right of way, then we backtracked a little to the continuation that traverses south, past a lovely memorial to a young woman. Amazingly we saw almost no one, three other hikers altogether and no mountain bikes. The trails are well marked and well maintained and the forest is pleasant and quiet. Nice in town option for a part day walk.

On the map the blue shows our route.

Beware of: trail conditions

Quick walk through the Blyth Park and Wayne golf course trails Sunday morning.  Parking at Blyth is free and relatively plentiful, parking at Wayne gets busy both with dog walkers and with folks accessing the Burke Gilman trail there.  Full restrooms at Blyth were open and in good condition.  There is a single well used Sanican at Wayne.  Trails at both still had significant snow/ice particularly in the shadier areas in Blyth and the southern bits of Wayne and will likely be slippery for a number of days given the cold forecast.  The biggest potential issue I really wanted to communicate here is that we saw a large, very healthy looking Coyote parallelling trails and clearly interested in walkers with small dogs.  A nice little walk if you are in the area but keep your eyes peeled for Wile E. Coyote.

Quick walk early Sunday around the Blyth and Wayne park trails before the sunshine went away.  We parked at Blyth where parking is free and relatively plentiful plus there are full functional restrooms.  The route today was just a messy wandering through Blyth, through the super secret passage under the street bridge to Wayne, more messy wandering through Wayne then back the way we came for a total of a shy 5 miles.  No specific trail issues other than a couple of the side routes in Wayne are a bit sloppy.  Additionally, there is access to the Burke Gillman and the far western end of the Tolt Pipeline trails if you want some further distance.

There was a fair bit of wildlife out this morning, a couple blue heron, had a single green heron fly over which was pretty neat since they are so rare, plus ducks, sparrow, squirrels, etc.  Both areas have some nice views along the Sammamish Slough.  Countryside Donut House in Bothell makes a nice after walk treat and it's not even too far to walk to.  A beautiful morning.

Quick early Sunday walk around the Blyth and Wayne park trails along the Sammamish Slough in Bothell before the sprinkles returned.  The route was a messy figure 8 starting from the Blyth lot for a total of about 4 miles and about 350’ vertical (only because we walked up the back side of Norway Hill to get the blood moving.)  Parking at both Blyth and Wayne is free and relatively plentiful.  Full restrooms were open and in good condition at Blyth, there was a single, well used sanican at Wayne.  Note - there is no crosswalk across 96th Ave NE so we used the super secret duck under passage under the north end of the road bridge over the slough.

Trails are largely in decent shape with just some of the Wayne secondary trails being somewhat muddy especially on the north side of the slough.  The only other trail issue are the number of scofflaw off leash doggie parents which can be a problem if you have kids or leashed pups.  Not a whole lot of wildlife out this morning, a few ducks, a pair of what I’m pretty sure were band tailed pigeon, a few squirrels, some sparrow, jay, crows, robins, etc.  A nice little meadow/forest/river walk if you are in the area.

This is a short walk through the park, but be aware that it is also a disc golf area too.  There may be a frisbee that goes by you.

You can easily extend your walk because it is adjacent to the Lake Sammamish/Burke Gilman trail and the former Wayne Golf Course.
