Just a nice snowy stroll while my daughter shopped. I entered the trails from the end of 9th St. This is the ONLY sketchy part. I climbed over the snow berm and promptly fell on my butt and slid down the short hill. After that it was all flat trails! Sadly, lots of dog poop which really sticks out on the trails. Amazing that people can't seem to clean up after their dogs. I carefully climbed the ice covered steps to the raised viewpoint, clutching the handrail hoping not to fall on the back of my head. After crossing the bridge onto Blackbird Island, I followed the trail in a clockwise direction and then took the center trail as well. Great informational/historical signage and beautiful views. Here I did see a couple people. I walked a total of about 2 miles, crossed back over the bridge and followed the new sidewalk up behind the new hotel and came out on 8th street. Beautiful walk in the snow, minus all of the dog poop. Great for kids.

Leavenworth has done a nice job with these trails. Complete with a playground, benches, children-only fishing pond, historical markers, nature markers, riverside views..from the parking lot, you take the main trail along the river which soon crosses a bridge onto Blackbird Island. You have three choices of trails to cross the island, which merge on the other side into another bridge, which takes you to another nice riverside section. The trail ends at a golf course. It was not crowded at all. Great views of the river. Less than 2 miles roundtrip I would guess.

Great hike! Lots of cool views of the river and some flowers were blooming. The trail was a little muddy and had a tree over a section of trail. Other than that, the trail was clearly marked and was easy to fallow. wear good hiking shoes depending on the time of year but overall great hike and would recommend it.
