Fall color is beginning to show, I am guessing that in about two weeks fall color will fully show.  

There are several trails that interconnect, and some have descriptive signs. 

Parking can be difficult, because Leavenworth is a popular destination. 

Hubby and I were taking a date trip to Leavenworth and walked Backbird Island for some fresh air in the snow!  Snow covered the entire time.  A couple spot I wished I'd had my micro spikes, but overall just fine in boots with some minor slippery spots. 

This short walk exceeded expectations. Peaceful, great views, a nice respite from the bustle of Leavenworth. 

Was visiting Leavenworth today with my sister and we decided to take a stroll along the Blackbird Island Trail. This is a beautiful inner city trail along the Wenatchee River in downtown Leavenworth. We saw signs warning about a cougar and some bears spotted in the area but we only ran upon a young deer nibbling the vegetation. There were flowers along the path especially a lot of hawthorn trees in bloom, pretty but smelly flowers. This was the perfect trail for such a beautiful sunny day.
